My First Day of School

Before I tell you about my adventure in school the other day, lemme just give a big hug to Hawra and Aunty Zalin for tagging me with this label:

Yeehaaa! Thanks, you guys! But the thing is, I really don’t know who to tag cos – gee – everyone else has been tagged! (Or they are BOYS. Hrrrmphhh.)

Anyway, back to my story.

I went to SCHOOL on Friday. Yes. You heard me right. No, not playgroup or playschool or nursery or whatchamacallit, it’s SCHOOL. Kindergarten to be precise.

Now you might think that my Mama is some kiasu parent who paid lots of money for her 10-month old baby to be enrolled into K1, but you are WRONG ok. At least about the enrolling bit (cos she is kiasu too lah).

You see, my Aunty Wati who is in charge of a kindergarten, is doing some sort of study regarding babies like me, and pre-schoolers. So one fine day, she asked me if I would like to join her SCHOOL for ONE day. Of course I said YES!!!!

It was so fun, I tell ya! There were so many handsome Chinese boys *gasp* and I’m proud to say, I was the centre of everyone’s attention. Tee hee.

I joined the class in their sing-along session, and they sang one of my favourite songs which is the cookie jar song! It was sad though, that I couldn’t actually sing the song, I only managed to utter a few lines and somehow it came out ALL WRONG, the lyrics, the tune, everything. It’s so weird how it’s all fine when I sing alone. Since I couldn’t sing along I just clapped along. That was fun too!

I crawled around, exploring the classroom, touching the kids, their toys (there were SO MANY!) and made small talk with some of them. They were all so friendly and nice to me. They called me Baby Sarah or Baby Cha-rah or even Baby Che-lah. I tried so hard not too giggle.

After about 3 hours of playing, singing, dancing, getting to know others, and crawling, I was exhausted. I mean, who wouldn’t? School is fun alright, but TIRING TOO! As the nice teacher started to tell my classmates (that’s what they are called) a story, I started to feel woozy and demanded for my milk. Before I knew it, I was knocked out.

…and when I woke up again, it was time for my classmates to go back! :(
I was quite upset of course, especially when I found out that in the one hour that I fell asleep, my Mama, Papa, Aunty and Nenek actually brought me to a nearby coffeeshop to have drinks. Which means, the kids weren’t there to observe how cute I look when I’m sleeping! Hrrrmmmphhhh!!!

(Oh, and good thing too actually, because I actually snore and drool a bit when I’m in deep sleep. Teehee. Not good for the Chinese boys to see.)

I woke up just in time though, to give out the gummy sweets that Mama got for my classmates. Apparently it’s to thank them for being such good kids in class. And just to tell you that I didn’t get any, of course, even though I was REALLY BEHAVING MYSELF. My aunty said that I had the goody-goody kid look on my face, like I’m the class monitor or something.

Don’t worry, Aunty. I will be class monitor okay! I will help you sniff out all those naughty naughty kids who do not do their homework and smuggle sweets into class!

So, that was my first day of school. I really really hope that my aunty still needs me for her research because I LURVEEEEEEE going to school. I LURVEEEEE playing with the kids! Maybe my mama REALLY should consider putting me in school? At 10 months? Pleeeeasssseeee mama?

Oh, and before I forget, I wanna say CONGRATULATIONS to my dearest Aunty Wati for…you know, getting to wear that funny-looking square hat with the dangly stuff that I so love to pull? I know, I know, I was looking at you in a weird way the whole time you put that outfit on cos, sheeesh. You did look weird, you know, with that hat? But I know, you DESERVE IT, Aunty. All those times you studied really hard and didn’t get to spend time with your cutesy niece (that’s me), it’s all paid off.

And please bring me to school again???
